DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT

What was the secret to Edison's success? He explained that it was to never give up before he succeeded in what he was trying to do. Not giving up--that's the only way. Once you give up you are defeated. This is equally true in the realm of faith. Quitting is not faith. We have to keep chanting until our prayers are answered. That is the correct way of prayer.

¿Cuál fue el secreto del éxito de Edison? Explicó que se trataba de nunca darse por vencidos antes de conseguir   lo que estaba tratando de hacer. No darse por vencido -  es la única manera. Una vez que usted se deja vencer es la derrota   . Esto es igualmente cierto en el ámbito de la fe. Abandonar no es la fe. Tenemos que seguir cantando daimoku hasta que nuestras oraciones son contestadas. Esa es la forma correcta de la oración.

Everyone born in this world has a unique role that only he or she can fulfill. Were this not the case, we would not be here. The universe never acts without cause; everything invariably has a reason for being. Even the weeds people love to loathe serve a purpose. I might even say that every cherry blossom has its own personality, a purpose and meaning in life that is unique to it--as do the plum, peach and damson.

Toda persona nacida en este mundo tiene un papel único que sólo  o ella puede cumplir. Si no fuera así, no estaríamos aquí. El universo nunca actúa sin causa, todo siempre tiene una razón de ser. Incluso la gente mala le encanta odiar   un propósito. Incluso podría decir que todos los cerezos en flor tienen su propia personalidad, un propósito y significado en la vida  es única para que - al igual que la ciruela, melocotón y damasco.

Friendship is strong. Friendship, camaraderie and unity in faith lie at the heart of the SGI. They come before the organization. We must never make the mistake of thinking that it is the other way around. The organization serves as a means for deepening friendship, comradeship and faith. To confuse the means and the end is a terrible mistake.

La amistad es fuerte. La amistad, la camaradería y la unidad en la fe están en el centro de la SGI. Vienen antes de la organización. No debemos cometer el error de pensar que es al revés. La organización sirve como un medio para profundizar la amistad, el compañerismo y la fe. Confundir los medios y el fin es un error terrible.

Ultimately, our battle is with ourselves. Whether in our activities in society, or in historical, political or economic developments, everything essentially boils down to a struggle between positive and negative forces.

I hope you will always live in unity with Nichiren, pursuing faith as disciples who are "of the same mind as Nichiren." Unfazed by the petty jealousies of others, please move forward boldly with joy and laughter.

Espero que siempre vivan en unión con Nichiren, siguiendo la fe como discípulos que están "con el mismo espíritu que Nichiren". Sin inmutarse por los celos de los demás, por favor, seguir adelante con valentía, con alegría y risas.

Ultimately, we are responsible for our own destiny. It may seem to us that our fate is predetermined, whether by our genes or by our environment. What really matters, however, is how we can improve ourselves from this moment forward, how we can change the circumstances that we find ourselves in. This enormous transformative force is what Buddhism is all about. In this struggle lies the source of never-ending youth and vitality.

When we interact with others with true sincerity, the other person will more often than not come to respect and value our own character. And this is all the more so when our actions are based on prayer. Conversely, holding others in contempt only leads to being held in contempt oneself: one whose life is tainted by feelings of hate toward others will come to be reviled by others. Let us open the path to mutual respect and harmonious coexistence so as to bring an end to this vicious circle that has long been part of human destiny.

Cuando nos relacionamos con los demás con verdadera sinceridad, la otra persona más a menudo viene a respetar y valorar nuestra propia personalidad. Y esto es tanto más cuando nuestras acciones se basan en la oración. Por el contrario, teniendo a los demás con desprecio sólo lleva a ser despreciado : alguien cuya vida está contaminada por sentimientos de odio hacia los demás llegará a ser injuriado por otros. Abramos el camino hacia el respeto mutuo y la convivencia armoniosa con el fin de poner fin a este círculo vicioso que ha sido durante mucho tiempo parte del destino humano.

Failure is an instrumental part of every success. Whether our life has been a triumph or tragedy can only be judged at its very end.

El fracaso es una parte fundamental del éxito. Si nuestra vida ha sido un triunfo o tragedia sólo puede ser juzgado al  final.

Because life is long, you should not be impatient. What matters most is that you embrace the Gohonzon throughout your life. It is vitally important to continually challenge yourself to chant even a little more daimoku and to pray before the Gohonzon for the fulfillment of your desires.

Porque la vida es larga, no debe ser impaciente. Lo que más importa es que abrace el Gohonzon durante toda su vida. Es de vital importancia para desafiar a sí mismo continuamente cantar daimoku incluso un poco más y orar al Gohonzon para el cumplimiento de sus deseos.

The problems confronting humankind are daunting in their depth and complexity. While it may be hard to see where to begin--or how--we must never give in to cynicism or paralysis. We must each initiate action in the direction we believe to be right. We must refuse the temptation to passively accommodate ourselves to present realities and embark upon the challenge of creating a new reality.

Los problemas que enfrenta la humanidad son enormes en su profundidad y complejidad. Si bien puede ser difícil de ver por dónde empezar - y cómo - nunca debe ceder ante el cinismo o la parálisis. Todos debemos iniciar una acción en la dirección que creemos que es correcto. Debemos rechazar la tentación de acomodarse pasivamente a la realidad actual mas bien embarcarse en el desafío de crear una nueva realidad.

Buddhism teaches that "all phenomena in the universe are manifestations of the Law" (Gosho Zenshu, p. 564). I hope you will, with this understanding, engage in broad-ranging studies with vigor and determination. The brain has a potential as vast and boundless as the universe. How then do we manifest the brain's full creative powers? There is only one way to bring out our full intellectual capacity: by constantly putting our minds to work.

El budismo enseña que "todos los fenómenos en el universo son manifestaciones de la Ley" (Gosho Zenshu, p. 564). Espero que, con esta comprensión, se comprometan en los estudios de amplio alcance con vigor y determinación. El cerebro tiene un potencial tan vasto e ilimitado como el universo. Entonces, ¿cómo manifestamos la capacidad creativa del cerebro en su máxima plenitud? Sólo hay una manera de poner de manifiesto nuestra total capacidad intelectual: constantemente poniendo nuestras mentes a trabajar.
